Ian took a look, then drove my car around back for Shane to assess. Within 30 minutes, I was in and out, and provided a complimentary buff for my headlights! I couldn't be happier with the results. I was driving my two-day-old Honda Passport westbound on Highway 62 (The Crosstown) just past the 35W interchange and before... read moreI was driving my two-day-old Honda Passport westbound on Highway 62 (The Crosstown) just past the 35W interchange and before the Penn Ave Exit when I came to stop-and-go traffic. I came to a slow and gradual stop behind the rear vehicle and glanced up into my rearview mirror to see if there was any oncoming traffic to worry about. That's when I noticed a grey VW clear the hill about a quarter mile behind me at an incredibly high rate of speed. I kept watching until I realized it wasn't slowing down and that I was going to get hit, and that's exactly what happened. According to responding troopers, that VW hit me going approximately 70 MPH. There were no skid marks.

LaMettry's personnel Lawrence Stiele, Shawn "The Honda Whisperer," and a guy named Swannie calmed me down and helped me file my claim with State Farm over the phone. I may have been in shock at the time (suffering from what would be diagnosed as a Grade 2 concussion). As I was waiting for my wife to pick me up, I overheard one of these gentlemen forewarn prospective customers who were calling that they had a full stable of cars waiting to be repaired, and recommend they go to another LaMettry's location. I felt fortunate that they agreed to repair my car.

Back to State Farm. They didn't yet have my vehicle model (a 2026) added to their database for estimates. This caused confusion on their end, which slowed the repair process to a standstill. State Farm was nonresponsive to both me and Lawrence. Single phone calls to resolve what should've been easy fixes took hours. Despite State Farm's efforts to "steer" me to one of their less reputable yet sponsored repair shops, I stood my ground and said I wanted LaMettry's. State Farm used that as an excuse to put me at the end of every line among the various stages of the repair process.

Because of these issues on the insurance end, it took LaMettry's eight weeks to repair my vehicle.

As an impatient individual, I had moments in which I wasn't very kind to Lawrence or the shop manager, Joe. Despite this, not once did they take offense or return my rudeness with any anger or resentment. Instead I was met with calm, reassurance, professionalism, and encouragement to hang in there.

It paid off.

Shawn "The Honda Whisperer" is a perfectionist. That's obvious in the quality of his work.

I got my vehicle back this afternoon. It's perfect, both aesthetically and mechanically.

I stand by my belief that LaMettry's in Richfield are magicians. They're also great people to whom I owe a great debt of gratitude. read less

The people that I interfaced with, between Nikki, Andrea, and Stephen all did well with helping me navigate the services... read moreThe people that I interfaced with, between Nikki, Andrea, and Stephen all did well with helping me navigate the services needed and were a helpful interface between my insurance provider and coordinating additional work as the repair progressed if/when other items that needed replacing were identified. Stephen would text me updates several times a week and even though the repair felt like a long time, I did have confidence the work was happening due to the regular communications.

Modern car repairs and replacement parts have so many intricacies and steps that I think everyone should find a similar repair video online to what their vehicle is needing from an authorized repair shop and they would quickly get a sense of the nuances involved. Luckily, the folks at LaMettry’s that I worked with did a good job at that too.

The work was finally done after several weeks and aside from a little last minute snafu with an insurance payment mixup and a tow truck call that went awry, the actual work was excellent, Stephen stayed past close of business on a Friday to help me pick it up, and it’s just like new again!
